Paul «Paul Dwayne» Despres

Paul Despres «Paul Dwayne», 60, of Bouctouche, passed away suddenly at the Campbellton Regional Hospital with his wife Joanne at his side, on Monday August 26, 2024. He was married to Joanne (Allain) Despres. Born in Moncton, he was the son of Herb Despres and the late Pauline Carroll.
Paul was known as the gentleman of Country music. He played music for 46 years with numerous musicians and great friends. He won several awards including the title of 2nd best singer of Canada, which opened up several opportunities, such as recording his album «The Puzzle» in Nashville. He recorded eight albums in total. Paul held dear to his heart all of his numerous fans, local and far, for all their support all through his music career. Paul was a heavy equipment operator at Delco Forest Product, in West Branch for many years.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Joanne, his son; James (Hélène) of Shediac, his father; Herb Despres of Bouctouche. He also leaves to mourn two sisters; Dianne Despres of Dieppe and Lynn Despres of Bedford, NS, several aunts, uncles, cousins as well as all his close friends and fellow musicians.
Visitations will be held at Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche, on Thursday September 5, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on Thursday September 5, 2024 at 7:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Paul’s memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Dr Marguerite Michaud School, music department.
