Gérard Vienneau

1939-2024

Gérard Vienneau
Gérard Vienneau, 84, of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the UHC Dr. Georges-L. Dumont, Moncton, on Monday April 1, 2024. He was married to Cécile (Robichaud) Vienneau. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Simon and the late Dora (LeBlanc) Vienneau.
Gérard found the love of his life, Cécile, while attending Collège St-Joseph. The 2 were inseparable for 59 years. He worked in the field of education as a school Principal at École Mont Carmel in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent for 28 of his 35 years of teaching. Gérard has always been very involved in school and community activities. He was a volunteer with the AEFNB (Association des enseignantes et enseignants francophones du NB) for several years. Being a country boy, he held the Kent County Agricultural Exhibition close to his heart, in which he was heavily involved for 30 years. He greatly loved nature and especially birds. He has always been passionate about sports as a spectator, athlete and coach, especially with hockey. For 30 years, he was the manager of the arena in Sainte-Marie and had very fond memories of the inter-parish hockey league games. Gérard was a dedicated and committed volunteer at his Church throughout his life, wearing many hats until his illness no longer allowed him to do so. He was also involved in l’École de la foi at the diocesan level. Since 1979, Cursillo had a special place in his heart and that is why he was very loyal and involved in this Catholic movement until his death. His faith was visible and contagious. He had his eyes fixed on the most important things, love of God and love for his neighbor. He was ready to be of service to others with his skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc., and he did so with kindness and love. Gérard was very devoted to his family and loved his role as Husband, Dad, Grampa and Great-Grampa above all else. He was a family man, a man of faith and services his entire life. We would like to wholeheartedly thank the entire Extra-mural team as well as Denise and Dorice for the exceptional home care provided.
He will be sadly missed by wife Cécile, his two daughters; Monique Cormier (Bob) of Truro, NS, Nicole Vienneau-Spencer (Everett) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, his three grandchildren; Mathieu (Devan), Rébecca, Jeremy (Sara), and his three great grandchildren; Everly, Ben and Noah. He also leaves to mourn his two sisters; Doreen Boudreau (late Gerald), Stella Houle (Lucien) of Fredericton, one brother; Alfred of Fredericton, one sister-in-law; Jeannine and several nephews and nieces.
Gerard was predeceased by one sister; Edna (John) and one brother; Denis.
Visitations will be held at the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 3:45 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Sainte-Marie-de-Kent Church on Thursday April 4, 2024 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
In Gerard’s memory, donations may be made to the Parkinson Association or to the Sainte-Marie-de-Kent parish.
