Léa Savoie, 98, of Bouctouche, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste, Bouctouche on Sunday February 26, 2023. She was married to the late Léonard Savoie (1999). Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Albert and the late Ursule (Collette) Léger.
Léa was a retired school teacher, having taught for 33 years, mostly in the Sainte-Anne-de-Kent area. She was a member of the Retired Teacher Association attending its social events until she was in her early nineties. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste. She enjoyed her summers at the Ocean Surf Park, Shediac, spending time with family, socializing with friends, travelling and playing cards.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Yvette Bertin (Larry) of Moncton, May Maillet (Paul) of Bouctouche, her four grandchildren: Michelle, Julie, Maurice, and Mario, her great grandchildren: Chloé, Maya, Sébastien, Noah, Marco, Arielle, Eric, Lexi and Liv. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Roseline Maillet (late Ulysse) of Moncton, her sister-in-law, Rose Savoie of St-Stephen and several nieces and nephews.
Léa was predeceased by her sisters: Exelda and Irène and her brothers; Emile, Alban, Alcide and Aldérice.
Visitations will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’ église, Bouctouche on Wednesday March 1, 2023 from 9 to 10:45 am. The Funeral Mass will be held in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 11:00am.

In Léa’s memory a donation can be made to the Manoir Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
