Odette Melanson

1933-2021

Odette Melanson
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Odette (Roy) Melanson, 88, of Saint-Antoine, on Friday September 10th 2021, at the Foyer Saint-Antoine.
Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Yvonne (Richard) Roy.
Odette was a very dedicated, hardworking person who always gave 100% to everything she did.
She was an excellent cook. She also loved dancing, sewing, decorating, and spending time outdoors with her flowers.
She was a very beautiful and proud woman, loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Odette will be sadly missed by her two children: Camilla Melanson (Marc) of Bouctouche, Michel Melanson (Nicole) of Grande-Digue; four grandchildren: Denis Goguen (Courtney), Michel Goguen (Barb), Chanelle Daponte (Joaquim), Denis Melanson (Stéphanie); two great-grandchildren: Alexandre Goguen and Samuel Goguen; two sisters; Léontine Cormier of St-Antoine and Rita Falkouski (Stanley) of Garfield NJ; one brother: Yvon Roy (Barb) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Roy of Dieppe, three brothers-in-law: Albéo Cormier and Hector-Eddy Richard, both of Moncton; and Ronald Melanson of Shediac; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Odette was predeceased by her husband Norman C. Melanson (2007); four sisters: infant Rita (1938), Gérène (2001), Aline (2013) and Marie (2017); one brother: Louis Roy (2020);
and one brother-in-law: Donald Cormier (2018).
The family greatly appreciates all the love and special care provided to our mother, during her stay at La Résidence Au Bénaise and at the Foyer Saint-Antoine.
At the Bénaise, every day she would say: “I couldn’t be better; everybody’s so nice to me. I eat well, I sleep well, I’m not sick. I thank God every day for my health. This is paradise.”
At the Foyer Saint-Antoine, it warmed our hearts, to hear that she was still able to share these precious words.
To everyone, who brought a twinkle in her eyes and a smile on her face, you will remain in our hearts forever! Thank you for all the special care and devotion you provided.
Visitations will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’Eglise, Bouctouche, on Thursday September 16, 2021 from 2 to 4pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Notre-Dame du Mont-Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, on Thursday September 16, 2021, at 7pm.
