Léona Bourque
Léona Robichaud Bourque, 93, of Bouctouche, passed away peacefully at the Manoir Saint-Jean Baptiste, Bouctouche on Thursday April 30, 2020. She was married to the late Louis-Félix Bourque (2006). Born in Shippagan, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Catherine (Léger) Robichaud and was adopted by her uncle Martin Robichaud and his wife Marie Landry at the age of two.
She will be sadly missed by her eight children; Louise of Coates Mills, Gisèle of Adelaide, Australia, Bernard (Magali) of Halifax, Diane, Micheline and Claude of Montreal, Charles (Shelley) of Moncton and Marcel of Saint John. She also leaves to mourn her brother Jean-Camille of Salaberry de Valleyfield and her six grandchildren; Mariane (Michael), Corine (Yanick), Jai (Lachclan), Sophie (Alex), Annie-Claude et Annick as well as several cousins, nephews and nieces and friends.
She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters; Albertine, Antoine, Jeannette, Napoléon, Raymond, Albany, Albert and Emilie.
Passionate about teaching, Léona started her career after she graduated from «École normal de Fredericton». She was the school director of the École Centrale of Bertrand and the Sainte-Thérèse school in Dieppe. She was also acting assistance to the superintendent for the schools in Kent Co. She went on to teach at the Dr Marguerite Michaud School in Bouctouche, with her last years devoted to special education.
During her life she was very active in several committees and associations, such as foyer-école, Dames d’Acadie and many more.
A funeral service will be held at a later date due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
