Hervé J. Cormier, 96, of Moncton and formerly of Bouctouche, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his residence on Friday April 17, 2020. He was married to the late Julia (Cormier) Cormier (1987) for 43 years. Born in Saint-Maurice-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Jos à Calixte and the late Geneviève (LeBlanc) Cormier.

En 1950 il fait son domicile à Bouctouche pour les prochaines 63 années. Durant les dernières 7 années, il a reçu des soins privés à Moncton.

He was the source of employment for many people during his business years, he also helped financially many people in need, from his community.
He worked tirelessly and with great courage at a very young age and throughout his life.
Forestry and saw milling were his chosen profession.
He once told his son; “Do not give your word easily, but when you give it: KEEP IT”.
He loved Country Music, played the guitar and the fiddle. In his early years he promoted boxing and wrestling matches. He was also a close personal friend of Yvon Durelle.

He will be sadly missed by his five children; Sarah Boudreau (Ray), Gervais (Gisèle), Roger, Sylvio (Francine), Phyllis Davis (Andy), two grandchildren; Monique (Denis), Annie and three step-grandchildren : Tammy, Marcie and Todd.
He also leaves to mourn his five sisters; Nélida Savoie (late Gerard), Stella Cormier (late Arthur), Edithe Daigle (late Normand), Marie Bastarache (late Roméo), Bernice Bastarache (André) and three brothers; Aubrey (late Berthe), Emile (Denise) and André (Gisèle), as well as two sisters-in-law; Joanne and Geneva, also his special friend Jeannine Hébert and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by one daughter Marie, two grandsons; Denis and Jason as well as five brothers; Clarence, Henri, Bernard, Rhéal and Angelo.

Chèr papa, c’est avec beaucoup de chagrin et d’ennui qu’on doit se dire adieu. Nous avons été des plus chanceux d’avoir eu le meilleur père du monde.
C’est avec un grand sens de gratitude que la famille tiens à remercier les personnes suivantes. À ses soignantes : Un merci spécial pour Leona qui a fait que ses deux dernières années ont été un temps de repos et de paix. Aussi à Linda, Star, Rema et Rachel. Durant les premières cinq années, merci à Denise, Huberte, Merilda et Eddy.

Un merci spécial à Dr Vincent Melanson et à l’équipe multidisciplinaire Extra-Mural.

Merci papa de nous avoir guidés, protégés, et de nous avoir appris les vraies valeurs de la vie. Ceci n’est qu’un au revoir, chèr papa; on se reverra là ou les larmes n’existent plus, où seulement l’amour et la paix règnent.

Visitations and Funeral Mass will be held at a later date due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
