Gerard Caissie

Gerard Caissie, 72, of Saint-Antoine, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Dr Georges L Dumont UHC, Moncton on Monday November 26, 2018. He was married to Alice (Boucher) Caissie. Born in Saint-Antoine, he was the son of the late Edouard and the late Dorilla (Léger) Caissie.
He had a Master’s degree in mathematics, taught with great passion for 32 years and was Head of mathematics department for district 11 for a few years. He was Member of the Saint-Antoine Lion’s club for over 25 years. Muscle cars were his thing; did drag racing, won a few trophies, an avid dodge fan, he was so proud of driving his 1974 Dodge Challenger. Squealing of tires was music to his ears. He enjoyed countless hours in his body shop, with his 2 sons. He loved spending time with family, hunting, and fishing. His life was about helping others.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Alice of 49 years, his three children; Sylvie Scharnberg (John) of Moncton, Stéphane (Nathalie) and Daniel (Rachelle) of Saint-Antoine, and his seven grandchildren; Shanelle, Chloé, Philippe, Joshua, Sara, Marissa, Marco. He also leaves to mourn five sisters; Maria Saulnier of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Jeanne-Mance Hébert (Joseph), Fernande Caissie of Bouctouche, Bernice Caissie (Ken Watters) of Moncton, and Dorilla Richard (Roger) of Saint-Antoine as well as several nephews and nieces.
Gerard was predeceased by one sister Simonne and two brothers; Clarence and Noël.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Antoine l’Ermite Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Saint-Antoine on Thursday November 29, from 7 to 9 and on Friday November 30 from 2 to 4 and 5:30 to 6:45 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Antoine Church on Friday November 30, 2018 at 7:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
In Gerard’s memory, donations may be made to the CHU DUMONT Foundation.
